Hello - My name is Jamie and I'm a fat girl. Well, really a skinny girl, trapped in a fat suit. I've always "struggled" with my weight in some way since I was little. I wasn't a "fat" kid and didn't need to shop in the special size section of the store. I was actually a skinny kid that could eat anything I wanted without consequence.
I started to lose control when I met my husband. We were dating and going out to dinner all the time. What else do you do when you first meet someone? I gained 15 pounds in the first three months of our relationship. I brushed it off as no big deal. Then 15 more pounds...still no big deal. By the time we married, two years after we met, I was at 200 pounds. I was not happy about this, but was working a lot and my husband didn't seem to mind. Fast forward to today, December 21, 2011. I've given birth to three beautiful children since we married in 2003. I've also managed to add another 50 pounds to the scale. Our youngest child celebrated his first birthday today and while I was standing in front of the mirror this morning, it really hit me. I am fat.
I know this problem isn't going to go away on its own. Let's be honest here, I didn't pack on nearly 100 pounds in 10 years by breathing air. I don't eat very well. I don't get enough sleep. I don't get enough exercise...putting laundry away and tending to small children is exercise, right? Okay, I don't exercise at all. And whatever little bit I do manage to squeak out is negated by my awful eating habits. I am a carb freak! If it has noodles, rice, bread or potatoes, I'm all over it.
I do not have a plan. I am nervous. I am scared that I am going to fail at this. Not only do I want to lose weight to feel more attractive and feel better about my appearance, I also want to lose weight to improve my health. I have children that need a mother to be around for many, many years. I don't want to have heart issues or be a diabetic. I don't want to die an early death.
